6 killed, 51 injured in Tanahu bus mishap

TANAHU, May 20 - At least six people were killed and fifty-one others injured Tuesday morning when a passenger bus carrying pilgrims met with an accident at Ghasikuwa of Tanahun district on Prithvi highway.
One among the deceased is minor and five are women, police said.
Four of them died on the spot, one on the way to hospital for treatment and another one while undergoing treatment at Western Regional hospital in Pokhara, sources said.
The deceased have been identified as Devi Dhamala, 43, of Kaski district, Purnima Gurung, 18, and Newa Bastakoti, 60, while the others are yet to be identified.
Twenty-two among the injured are undergoing treatment at Western Regional hospital while the others are being treated at Manipal hospital in Pokhara.

The ill-fated bus (Ba 1 Kha 2069) carrying pilgrims bound for Gorkha from Pokhara skidded some 50 meters off the road at Ghasikuwa in Deurali VDC and smacked a big rock.
The accident comes a day after a bus plunged into the Rapti River in Dang district, leaving over two dozens dead and many others injured.
